What to expect from your appointment
Getting ready for your massage or facial
Finally, it's time for your therapist to leave the room so you can get ready. you will be instructed on how to undress and lie on the bed according to which treatment you have booked. You will normally be facing down into the head-hole, in-between 2 sheets covered with a towel. Please be aware that this is non-negotiable.
Don’t know what to do with your arms?
Just lie them down in a relaxed position next to your body. If we need to move your arms, we will position them as needed in a way that doesn’t disturb you.
Will my massage hurt?
No. Please be aware that no massage should be painful. Our massages are designed to be therapeutic with the use of science-backed techniques which your therapist has been trained to use to provide relief without excessive pressure which can be damaging to the body.
Do I have to shave my legs/face/under-arms before a massage?
This doesn't matter at all! Please come as you are. How you look is of no concern to us and will have no effect on your massage session.
What should I wear for my massage?
You can keep your bottom underwear on. However if you want to keep more clothes on, or not undress at all, this is totally fine. Please ensure your bikini/swimwear is dry.
What if I feel self conscious about my body/certain areas?
This is a safe space free of judgement and no matter how you feel you will always be treated with respect, care and modesty. The massage bed is comfortable, with a wide enough width and long length for bigger and taller people.
I don't want my feet, head or abdomen touched during my massage, is this ok?
This is fine, please let us know before we start so we can agree on what areas will be massaged.
Naós Massage Studio is a privately run 1-1 spa and only accepts pre-booked appointments via the online system. This ensures a safe and quiet space free from interruptions in a 1-1 setting. Please respect that walk-in appointments are not possible. Our booking platform can be found here.
Your arrival at the studio:
Please arrive no earlier than 5 minutes before your appointment, sessions cannot be started earlier as this time is needed between each appointment to clean and reset the studio in preparation for your session. Please wait outside to be welcomed.
The studio floor is cleaned every day and between sessions, but once inside, please remove outdoor footwear, this ensures the space is clean and sand-free for us to walk freely barefoot.
Feel free to wash your hands, use the bathroom or drink some water. It's a good idea to bring a large bottle of water along with you to stay hydrated.
Before your massage or facial
We will discuss your intake form and ask you some questions about your preferences; for massage: what kind of pressure you would like, areas to focus/not to focus. It's helpful for us if you give as much detail as possible, be specific and ask directly for what you feel you need. If you are unsure about anything, just ask :)
We will describe briefly the order and sequence of the massage/facial, if you have booked a massage, you will then have the chance to choose your aromatherapy oil blend.
Making the most out of your massage at Naós Massage Studio
How should I prepare myself for my visit to Naós Massage Studio?
Arrive showered and sand/salt free - dried salty water on the skin interferes with the oils.
• Once you have arrived into the studio doors, slow-down and relax. Avoid rushing and be seated.
• Don't forget to use the bathroom before getting onto the bed.
• Feel free to ask any questions before, during and after.
• Avoid a large, heavy meal before your massage.
• Have prepared any questions about the session that you would like to ask your therapist about the session.
• Book your appointment at a time that you are more likely to feel relaxed, not just when you have time.
• UV levels in Kos are very high. Massage and facials are not suitable for sunburnt skin and may be uncomfortable, for this reason, take care to avoid sun exposure before before your session.
• It should go without saying - before your massage or facial please turn off/silent your phone. Feel free to leave it in our relaxation area so as not to feel its presence near you.
What should I expect during the session?
• The space is deigned for your uninterrupted relaxation in mind, if there is anything you need during the session please let your therapist know.
• The studio music is a playlist of ambient soundscapes and drone. This music compliments the slow tempo and energy of the space, some people have found it be moving and have had visual experiences, this is normal.
• Some people may experience racing thoughts and struggle to switch off. If you are not used to spending, feeling very stressed or anxious, this is normal. Try to focus on the music, count breaths and focus on an extended exhale.
• Some people fall asleep, this is normal. Some people do not, this is also normal. Be assured that your massage is giving you all the physiological benefits regardless.
• Some people may feel the need to talk and have a conversation during the session - it’s recommended to avoid this. Your massage is your time to switch-off and relax. There is plenty of time to talk afterwards.
• It's normal to feel emotional or even cry. Take a moment to feel the emotions pass through you, acknowledge them, and if you need to stop or take a break, simply let your therapist know.
• This is a space of no judgement. Be yourself, as you are.
What should I do after my massage at Naós Massage Studio?
• Get up from the bed slowly, you may feel dizzy or light headed.
• It's normal to feel heavy or for your muscles to feel achy after a massage. This is normal and will eventually wear-off.
• Try to avoid using your phone for at least an hour after your session.
• Take a walk, lie in the shade on the beach, listen to music, be with yourself and take time to rest and be mindful.
• If you feel tired, rest. Your body is asking you for time to regenerate and reset.
• Oils can make your skin photosensitive - please avoid sun exposure after your massage until you are able to shower off the oils. we recommend leaving the oil on for as long as you can to receive the benefits of the precious and powerful oils.
• Be aware that if you intend to drink alcohol, it may effect you differently, or more intensely than normal.
